The Molvi Bashir Ahmad-led delegation comprised of representatives from Baramulla, Kupwara, Shopian, and other areas namely Muhammad Yousuf Bhat, Ghulam Muhammad Maqdam, Muhammad Ibrahim, Zameer Ahmad, and others.
The delegation extended Shabir Ahmad Shah’s message to the family and said “the nation is committed in its demand of return of mortal remains of martyrs”.
The delegation told the family that Shabir Ahmad Shah has been under continuous house arrest since years and despite his wish couldn’t visit them. “We’ll continue to demand the mortal remains of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat and Shaheed Afzal Guru and will not let their sacrifices go waste. We’re indebted to the sacrifices of martyrs and will continue to pursue their mission till our last breath. The whole nation is with you,” the delegation quoted Shah as saying.
Paying tributes to Shaheed Afzal Guru, they said India by hanging him sent a message to Kashmiri youths as how the ‘world’s largest democracy’ commits the grave human rights violations and implicates Kashmiri youths in false cases.
Meanwhile, Shabir Ahmad Shah talked to Shaheed Afzal Guru’s family over phone. “Despite my wish, it wasn’t possible for me to visit personally as authorities have put severe restrictions on my movement,” Shah told the family.
He also expressed solidarity with people of Baramulla saying Allah chose Afzal for a greater cause. “May Allah reward Shaheed Afzal Guru’s family for its immense sacrifices,” he said.
Shah also thanked people for observing complete shutdown and reiterated his appeal for shutdown on Feb 11 (Saturday) that marks the 33rd martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Maqbool Bhat.
